Improving Drupal's Competitiveness: A UX Review of Panels and Page Manager
Panels and Page Manager are powerful modules that can provide significant flexibility and control to the ways web sites display content. However for many people, the user experience for both site building and content management leaves a lot to be desired. Adding great UX to great functionality could be a game changer for competing with alternative solutions such as Wordpress, Fatwire, Sitecore, etc.
Earl Miles, the author of these modules has indicated that he would welcome help to improve the usability of Panels and Page Manager and Myplanet Digital has stepped up to the challenge. We have begun this extensive undertaking with a thorough UX review and usability requirements analysis. This analysis will lay out the foundations for proposed new UX strategies that will target the two distinct user groups: site builders and content managers.
As part of this process, we would like to present the findings of the UX review thus far and collect feedback from the community (developers, content managers, etc.) to ensure that we are on track to meeting the diverse needs that these pivotal modules must fulfill.
